Background: A GFWD subscriber discovered various grains in her bag of lentils. She sent the remaining product to GFWD along with two unopened bags of product. I sorted through one of the unopened bags. The photo illustrates the sorted lentils and the grains found in the lentils. The grain and sorted lentils were sent to the lab for testing. The second unopened bag was sent to GFCO (the certifying organization). Thank you to this subscriber for alerting GFWD. 

Ingredients: Organic red lentils, Organic green lentils, and Organic black lentils.

Product packaging reads, “Lentils are an organic agriculture product. Despite the use of modern cleaning equipment it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Always rinse and sort lentils before cooking.”
