Manufacturer: Christopher's Bakery

This sourdough wheat bread is sold by Christopher's Bakery at the Westside Market in Cleveland, Ohio. A subscriber alerted us that this bakery was selling what they called gluten-friendly sourdough wheat bread. 

A subscriber to Gluten Free Watchdog purchased this product for us at Westside Market. 

Ingredients (according to an email from Christopher's Bakery): Organic wheat flour, High gluten flour, Water, Salt, Dry malt diastatic

Test Report Summary

Report Date: 11/08/2024

The sample tested at over 140,000 parts per million of gluten. 

In an email to Gluten Free Watchdog, the owner of Christopher's Bakery stated about the bread that "the natural starter and the 24 hour fermentation process makes it gluten friendly and that celiac and people with wheat allergies are ok to consume at their own risk."

For reference purposes, regular wheat flour contains a level of gluten of approximately 100,000 ppm of gluten. 

According to email correspondence with Christopher's Bakery, they "wholesale this bread" from another bakery in Ohio.
