The invoice reads, "Bulk rolled oats, organic gluten-free." There is no gluten-free claim on the package.

Background:

At the time of purchase, the online manufacturer description for this product read, “Rolled oats #5 are milled from Avena Purity Protocol oats in a dedicated and certified allergen-free facility. Sustainably grown and harvested from pedigreed non-GMO seed, Avena Purity Protocol oat ingredients are fully traceable back to the farm and field.”

We were later told by The Nut Garden that the above description was a mistake--the oats are not Avena purity protocol oats but Grain Millers organic, rolled oats. The manufacturer description was changed. See https://thenutgarden.com/products/bulk-rolled-oats-organic-gluten-free

Gluten Free Watchdog was later advised that the oats we received are organic, rolled oats from Grain Millers, but they are not gluten-free.

Important note: If you order gluten-free oats in bulk from a distributor, please make sure the oats are labeled gluten-free when they arrive. Ideally, you should request and receive a product specification sheet and a certificate of analysis for gluten. This is especially important if you are a manufacturer and you purchase your gluten-free oats through a distributor.
